Portable Appliance Testing

Purpose

This course is designed for people involved in either the management or administration of Portable Appliance Testing or people involved in the practical testing of Portable Appliances.

Outcome

Successful completion will mean the candidate has passed a range of practical competence assessments and a written assessment covering knowledge and understanding. This will enable the participants to carry out specific tasks back in the workplace.

Certification

A City & Guilds 2377-01 or 02 for Code of Practice for In Service Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Practical Testing 2377-02

Course Content:

  • legislation
  • practical inspection and testing
  • use of PAT unit and separate instruments
  • recording and interpreting results

The exam fee is included in the course cost. The exam is taken on-line towards the end of the course. 

For this programme, delegates must have a basic electrical competence as demonstrated by City of Guilds 1602 or 6394 or equivalent, or by successfully completing a pre-course assessment.

MCP recommends that delegates have an up to date copy of the IEE code of practice for In-service Inspection and testing of Electrical Equipment. This can be provided at a cost of approx £35 or where necessary, we will provide a copy for reference during the course and exam.
